Description
The specimen is a heart which has been opened to display the right and left ventricles. There is
marked left ventricular hypertrophy with the left ventricular wall measuring up to 2.7 cm in
thickness. The right ventricle is also hypertrophied and measures up to 0.8 cm in thickness. The
features are those of concentric hypertrophy of the left ventricle and are consistent with
hypertensive heart disease.
